The Executive Board of the Netherlands Police Academy is responsible for the day-to-day management of the organisation. Director Leonard Kok and board member Kathelijne van Kammen introduce themselves.
Leonard Kok has been the director of the Netherlands Police Academy since 1 January 2023. Before this, he was part of the police force management team for nearly seven years.
Leonard trained as a reserve officer in the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee. He then worked at the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Justice* from 1989 to 2006. At the Ministry of Finance, he worked for ten years at the Government Finance Inspectorate. He was also deputy Budget Director there for three years. At the Ministry of Justice, he was deputy secretary-general for four years.
Leonard then went to work for the municipality of The Hague as managing director of Urban Development. In 2013, he transferred to the Ministry of Defence as commander of the current Support Command. In 2016, he joined the police management.
*This is now the Ministry of Justice and Security.
Kathelijne van Kammen has been board member of the Netherlands Police Academy since 1 February 2016. She is responsible for police education.
Kathelijne has extensive experience in higher professional education. She has held managerial positions for many years. She has for example worked at the Arnhem and Nijmegen University of applied sciences as institute director with overall responsibility and project and programme manager for educational and organisational development. She also held this last position at Utrecht University.
